The Peace Research Institute Frankfurt @HSFK_PRIF is looking for a #PostDoc (100%) with a research focus on #colonialism #decolonization #postcolonial relations for the Research Department Glocal Junctions; deadline 31 January 2022



In order to build up and expand expertise on normative and practical conflicts in dealing with past colonial violence in Research Department V, we are looking for 

a PostDoc (m/f/d) (100%)
in salary scale E 13 TV-H, for three years (extension intended)
(under the terms of the WissZVG).

Your responsibilities include:

  • contributions to the development of a research project in the department, application for grants, research and publications  related to colonial violence, postcolonial relations, reconciliation efforts and related conflicts;
  • maintenance and further development of PRIF’s local, national and international networks.

In addition, we expect involvement in the further development of the research agenda of PRIF, willingness to cooperate on an interdisciplinary basis and to communicate research results to the political and social public as well as participation in the committees of PRIF’s self-administration.

The applicant should fulfill the following requirements:

  • At least a very good doctorate in an appropriate subject from the humanities or social sciences;
  • research focus on colonialism / decolonization / postcolonial relations;
  • very good knowledge of the current scientific and societal debates in this topic area;
  • good knowledge of qualitative research methods.

Very good command of English, spoken and written, as well as competent handling of standard office software are prerequisites. Knowledge of German is not a prerequisite, but it is expected that the applicant shows willingness to try to acquire German language skills within the next one to two years.
