Doctoral Research Fellow

(Wissenschaftliche*r Mitarbeiter*in)  TV-L EG 13, 65%,

for at least three years, who would like to conduct research on critical museum and heritage studies in an international team.

The Argelander Professorship in Critical Museum and Heritage Studies engages in transdisciplinary and transcultural heritage research, including the testing of decolonial methodologies. It seeks to plurify the formation of knowledge across museums and heritage.

The Global Heritage Lab is an international research hub for critical museum and global heritage studies and an innovative teaching and exhibition space. It fosters transcultural and transdisciplinary experimentation and provides impulses for rethinking museums and understanding cultural heritage against the background of global economic, ecological, cultural and political challenges. In particular, it engages with historically marginalised bodies of knowledge and forms of cultural expression. The Global Heritage Lab is supported by the Transdisciplinary Research Area Present Pasts, which is dedicated to researching the connections between current challenges and processes and negotiations of comparable phenomena in the past from transdisciplinary perspectives.

Your tasks:

Further development of your research profile, development of a doctoral project related to the research fields of the professorship 

 

Academic teaching in the field of critical museum and heritage studies

 

Participation in exhibitions and academic events organised by the professorship

 

Academic self-administration

 

Writing applications for third-party funding

 

Willingness to be a member of committees

 

Completion of a doctoral supervisory relationship at the University of Bonn within the first 12 months

Your profile:

Completed Master's degree in cultural and social anthropology, cultural studies, history, art history, museum studies, material culture studies, postcolonial studies or related subjects

 

Interest in transcultural issues

 

Experience in the research with material culture and historical archives (desirable)

 

Experience in the conception and organisation of exhibitions (desirable)

 

Professional command of written and spoken English (business fluent) 

 

Good knowledge of German

 

Proactive manner of working, high degree of independence and sense of responsibility 

 

Committed, flexible, team-orientated and open to new tasks
