The Global Business Anthropology Summit (GBAS) is an annual event bringing academics and professionals in business to think in practical terms through the lenses of anthropological theory and through application of anthropological methods. The Summit confronts contemporary challenges and concerns that face humanity and the planet at a time when businesses practices around the globe demonstrably create dangerous impacts on human and natural ecosystems. The Summit has offered opportunities for anthropologists, social scientists and businesspeople to come together to think about plausible, practical, and sustainable solutions to these challenges faced by business while also contributing significantly to the growth and advancement of the field of anthropology and the social sciences in general. The Summit is the world's leading event in business anthropology, a branch of anthropology that is applied to economic, human and ecosystem issues in their broadest sense (for example, marketing, personnel organization, strategy, research, taxation, digitization, medicine, design, sustainability etc.). This Summit is a great opportunity to open the career horizons of social science students. It will be an occasion for them to meet and exchange with scholars and anthropologists who are working in the field of Business.

This Berlin Summit will be the first of its kind to take place in Europe and the first outside of the USA. It tackles pressing contemporary issues that face humans and our planet and it is a direct response to the UN Social Development Goals (SDGs). For this reason, its purpose is precisely to raise awareness about the role that can be played by anthropologists and social scientists in enterprises to provide better services and have sustainability and human dignity at the core of their work. Additionally, the Summit aims at fostering a strong link between the practice and academic learning not only in Germany and Europe but also globally.

This year's Summit takes sustainability and thinking about the future as focal points. It responds to pressing challenges and offers a roadmap for anthropologists, social scientists, businesspeople and enterprises to work together to have a better future for us and our planet.

The Summit is composed of several sessions, keynote speeches and also serendipity networking events (Wednesday, June 16th, 2021) to give an opportunity to social scientists, businesspeople and students from around the world to meet and engage with one another in a relaxed atmosphere just as in a natural environment. During the Wednesday activities, people can discuss and elaborate on ideas that they learned in the different sessions, they can meet session organizers, ask questions, learn from others and share their own experience and their visions for the future.

The program and more information about the Summit can be found on the website.
