Full professor position in environmental anthropology (100%)
The University of Neuchâtel, Switzerland, invites applications for a full professor position (100%) in environmental anthropology, with a specialization on agri-environmental issues in Switzerland. The incumbent will be responsible for co-managing a center of excellence and competence in sustainable development in the Jura Arc.

Job description 
The person hired for this position will:
• be a recognized member of the field of environmental anthropology, in Switzerland and internationally;
• demonstrate research expertise in at least two of the following areas: agro-food systems, agroecological transitions, peasant worlds, agro-forestry;
• demonstrate a good knowledge of the Swiss political and institutional context in these fields and have
already carried out studies on and in this context;

Among other things, the incumbent must:
• have experience in teaching (BA, MA) and supervision of student work (BA, MA, doctoral theses), and be able to offer both general courses in ethnology at different levels (BA and MA) and specialized classes in her or his areas of expertise;
• have the capacity for interdisciplinary openness in teaching as well as in research;
• have experience in dialogue with agricultural circles;
• have skills in mobilizing third-party funds, project coordination and team management. In the long term, the center must be able to continue to operate according to a project-based approach, funded by the SNSF, international funding sources or federal offices.

Candidates must hold a doctorate in anthropology (or equivalent titles) and a publication record related to the profile of the position. As a signatory of the DORA declaration, the University of Neuchâtel attaches importance to a qualitative assessment of candidates’ academic activities. Fluency in French and English required, fluency in German is a plus.

Teaching : 7 hours divided between BA and MA
• 3-4 hours of teaching at the Bachelor level as part of the basic program of the BA pillars in ethnology and in the BS in biology-ethnology;
• 3-4 hours of teaching at the Master level, appropriate both to the course offerings in the Master in Social Sciences and to the interdisciplinary curriculum of the Master of Science in Biology and the future Master in Biodiversity and Species Conservation.
Supervision: Participation in student supervision, in particular for master and doctoral theses.
Administration: Participation in the administration of the Anthropology Institute, and in the development of the interfaculty curricula around environment-society issues.
Responsibility for the co-management of the new center of excellence and competence in sustainable development at the FRI in Courtemelon.
Research: Development of fundamental research in the field of environmental anthropology along with applied research in the field, in view of the objectives of the new center of competence in sustainable development. Participation in the research activities of the Anthropology Institute and the Center for the Understanding of Social Processes (MAPS) as well as in national (doctoral schools in particular) and international networks relating to her or his research fields.
