Global Conference on Women and Gender

This interdisciplinary conference brings together participants from all academic fields to engage in wide-ranging, critical conversations about how communitites are devleoped, fostered, and destroyed in the small- and large-scale; who is most entitled to care and who must/can give it; how crisis affects both communities as a whole and the individuals within them; and how all of these questions are shaped by the ways gender is constructed, legislated, resisted, adn performed. Contributors are encouraged to have an expansive understanding of the conference theme as participants discuss the past, present, and future of community, care, and crisis throughout the world. 

Topics may include but are not limited to the ways community, care, and crisis intersect with:

  • Real and Imagined Community Boundaries

Submissions from any academic discipline are welcome, including but not limited to art, history, philosophy, religious studies, sociology, psychology, environmental science, medicine, biomedical ethis, economics, political science, gender studies, communication studies, and literature. We also invite professionals in nonacademic settings to submit proposals.

Both panel and individual paper proposals are welcome.

Please submit a 350-500 word abstract by October 1st, 2021 to http://cnu.edu/gcwg.

Please include with your abstract: your full name and your academic or professional affiliation and rank (graduate student, professor, artist, etc.) along with your preferred method of presenting (in person or online). Abstracts that greatly exceed the 500-word count may not be considered. We will also include a few competitively selected undergraduate panels in the 2022 conference. All submissions will be peer reviewed and those accepted will be notified no later than December 15th. 

Paper presentations will ideally be about 15-20 minutes in length and can be considered for our annual publication.
