The initial fixed term is three years. The position calls for 65% of standard work hours per week.

Responsibilities:

Research associates will be expected primarily to teach and conduct research. The research associate will also have the opportunity to pursue further academic qualifications, in particular a doctoral dissertation. At least one-third of set working hours will be made available for the research associate’s own academic work.

Specific Duties:

Thematically, the research work is expected to focus on the transfer of scientific knowledge and the engagement of universities with external stakeholders -the so-called Third Mission.Possible focal points:-a specific field of research (e.g.neuroscience, robotics)-a specific actor (e.g. university)-a level of action (e.g. organization)-certain transfer formats (e.g. digital engagement)On the one hand, transfer activities are to be investigated on overarching themes, for example with regard to the interaction between science and society, the democratisation of science and/or the relationship between science, innovation and legitimacy. On the other hand, the task is to scientifically accompany and enrich the UHH's transfer activities. The teaching obligation is 2.6 teaching hours/week ("LVS").

Requirements:

A university degree in a relevant field. The prerequisite for employment is a university degree in a social science subject. Experience in the field of science and technology studiesis expected. The adept handling of social science methods, especially qualitative methods, is a prerequisite. You are willing to conduct independent and committed research in discourse with the working group at the chair. In addition to their application documents, all applicants are asked to include a one-page outline of a dissertation project that shows how a corresponding research topic could be worked on using the methods of qualitative social research.
