Beschreibung
It investigates the historical and cultural foundations of watchfulness as well as the participation of individuals who lend it their heightened attention partially and situationally in the service of a higher task.
The Collaborative Research Centre invites applications for a research project in social and cultural anthropology to investigate “The vigilance of those mistaken for migrants in the US-Mexican border area”. This project examines constellations of vigilance in the US-Mexican border region and analyzes the strategies of vigilance employed by individuals, perceived as undocumented immigrants who thus expect to experience racialized discrimination. The project is led by Prof. Dr. Eveline Dürr.
Your responsibilities:
- conduct research (including fieldwork) in the context of this project (with an opportunity for a Habilitation)
- prepare and participate in project-based publications
- support and help organize project based events and activities
- participate in and help organize the events of the integrated doctoral research training group of the Collaborative Research Centre
Your profile:
- candidates should have completed their doctorate in the field of Social and Cultural Anthropology with outstanding results
- ethnographic fieldwork experience is a requirement
- excellent command of English and Spanish is required; good communication skills in German are an advantage
- candidates have to demonstrate their openness towards working in an interdisciplinary context as well as an interest in theoretical questions
