Excess and Absence in Domestic Life, EASA 2020

We invite papers for our panel, ‘Excess and Absence in Domestic Life’, at the EASA conference in Lisbon (21-24th July 2020) entitled ‘New Anthropological Horizons in and Beyond Europe’

Zusammenfassung

Beschreibung

This panel interrogates competing visions of absence and excess in domestic practices of accumulation, management, and disposal. How do people acquire, manage, or reduce the material stuff that has come to dominate the domestic sphere in the 21st century? What does the emergence of minimalism, no-waste living, and frugality tell us about how domestic life is politicised under austerity and late-capitalism?

In particular, we encourage papers exploring the following themes: materiality in the home, consumption, excess, frugality, minimalism, no waste lifestyles, cleanliness and tidying trends, hoarding and disposal.

The deadline for proposing a paper is 20/01/2020.  Please follow this link to propose your paperClick on the panel and select the blue ‘propose’ button: https://easaonline.org/conferences/easa2020/panels#8517
