Academic Research Assistant "On the materiality of (forced) migration" (Univ. Göttingen)

The BMBF-funded research project “On the materiality of (forced) migration” (headed by Prof. Andrea Lauser) is looking for an Academic Research Assistant (WHK)on a work basis of 80 hours/month for 12 months, to start with immediate effect.

Beschreibung

Main Tasks:
-Develop and conduct own research project on the materiality of migration
-Contribute to the project’s website with short articles based on the research
-Contribute to the theoretical discussions in the project team
-Support the project team with the everyday tasks e.g. managing the website, organizing project events and conferences, and editing the conference volume

Required Qualifications:
-MA Degree in Social and Cultural Anthropology or a related subject
-Knowledge of current debates on both migration and material culture studies
-Relevant fieldwork experiences
-Fluency in both English and German
-Willingness to work as part of a dynamic team and ability to work independently
-Further research language skills relevant in the field of research and familiarity with the Friedland transit camp (GDL) are an asset

About the project:

The BMBF-funded research project “On the materiality of (forced) migration”, led by the Institute of Social and Cultural Anthropology, is a collaboration between the University of Göttingen, Museum Friedland and “die Exponauten” and aims to study the material dimension of (forced) migration mainly in the Friedland transit camp as well as the losses, negotiations, and hopes and expectations related to material objects.
