The research centre (SFB 806) comprises 21 research programmes with about 80 participating scientists from the Universities of Cologne, Aachen and Bonn.

The research period is planned from July 2017 to June 2021, subject to the positive decision of the German Research Foundation. Research of the CRC includes a broad range of disciplines, such as Physical Geography, Geology and Mineralogy, Geophysics, Geoarchaeology, Palaeolimnology, Prehistoric Archaeology, Cultural Anthropology.

The positions are available from July 1st 2017 or January 1st 2018 for four years (postdoc) subject to satisfactory progress reviews after 12 and 24 months. Payment is based on the German TV-L E13 scale if terms and conditions under collective bargaining law are fulfilled.

The research center offers the opportunity to conduct research in a dynamic interdisciplinary environment involving national and international partners in Africa, the Middle East and several European Countries. Fluency or nearly fluency in English is required and knowledge of German is recommended.
