Specialised Information Service Social and Cultural Anthropology

Within the Specialised Information Services framework funded by the DFG (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft - German Research Society), the University Library at Humboldt Universität zu Berlin collects folkloristic and anthropological literature for the entire Germany.

From January 1st, 1998, until December 31st, 2015, pursuant to the collection guide lines, the University Library has purchased German and international literature as comprehensibly as possible. Until 1998, the subject collection - in those days divided into the collections of comparative folklore studies and social anthropology - was overseen by the Municipal and University Library Frankfurt/Main. This institution remains responsible for all literature purchased before December 31, 1997. The Special Subject Collections were reorganized in the mid-1990s, and the University Library of Humboldt Universität zu Berlin is now responsible for the special subject collections of folkloristic and anthropological literature. Since January 1st, 2016, the collection policy has been changed due to a change in the funding system. The new Specialised Information Services have a different profile and purpose.
